For the 2013 1st year’s concert, we decided to make our theme something that the whole of South Africa is familiar with. No matter your age or culture, and whether or not you actually like it, everyone knows about “Noot vir Noot”. However, we decided to make it slightly more unique, and named our show “Noot Vennoot”. With the host, Johan Stemmet, (played by Anchin), and all the well-known Johan Stemmet mannerisms, as well as the ever-so-popular “Maak-my-siek Fabriek” (consisting of Sarena, Louise, Charlainé and Jason), the audience sure had something to laugh at.
The contestants were legends in the music industry, with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne (played by Nadine), Tina Turner (played by Refiloe), Dolly Parton (played by Minette), Michael Jackson (played by Elizna), Stevie Wonder (played by Jeanett), and lastly John Lennon (played by Leandi), who entertained the audience with their performances and extraordinary costumes.
The first game was the “Vennoot Assosiasie”, where contestants had to associate a song with a photo of either one of the partners or managers. Songs were specifically picked according to things we learned about our partners and managers during our first month at the office.
The second game was the “Woord vir woord”, where contestants had to name a song from some ridiculously “cryptic” clues. Then the contestants had to sing along to the song and by doing so, fill in the correct missing lyrics.
The guest performer was local and “lekker”, the infamous Jack Parow (played by Vaughn). He sure liked getting right in the faces of the audience members, and of course there was the very distinguishable extended cap that is uniquely Jack Parow.
At the end of the show, a “cheque” for 100 000 apples was given to Thelma from the main sponsor, “Appel Bank”. Each contestant, as well as each audience member, received a “bordspel” and naturally, “R50jies vir jou”.
On the technical side, the success of the show laid in the hands of Charmain and Melissa, who operated the projector and music respectively.
